Moses Coady and the Sisters of St Martha’s Go to the Keppoch
The Ships Of 1801 have presented original concerts for the past twelve years, with most of them performed at Strathspey Place in Mabou. All shows have featured historical themes that are important to Northern Nova Scotia, including Cape Breton. This year we tell the story of a day in the life of Fr. Moses Coady (from Margaree Valley area) who was a Roman Catholic Priest, an adult educator whose influence spread worldwide. In the show, he and two Sisters from St Martha’s travel to a small rural community with the intention of helping the people improve their lives through promoting co-operative action and adult education.
The show features original and tradition music along with realistic and humorous dialogue. The cast is composed of some thirty individuals ranging in age from 7 to 85, full of great singers and wonderful actors. Along with Fr. Moses Coady, two other Cape Breton characters, Sister Irene Doyle from Melford and Sister Marie Micheal MacKinnon from Boisdale, will be featured in the show. Come to Mabou on July 7th at 7 pm for a great show that will have your toes tapping and your mind thinking! Tickets are $35 plus Eventbrite fee, $5 more the day of the show so get your tickets early!
